Thought/Scripture for the Week

5-27-08 Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...
It's about learning to dance in the rain -
A quote from my friend Connie.

A story tells about a rich man who pleaded with God to let him bring into eternity one suitcase full of his most valuable possessions.  God finally conceded, and the man packed as much gold as he could into his biggest suitcase.  When he arrived at heaven's gates he was met by St. Peter, who opened the suitcase, curious to see what the man valued most.  "What!"  St. Peter was incredulous; "You brought pavement?"

Assign your nuggets to the dust, your gold of Ophir to the rocks in the ravines, then the Almighty will be your gold, the choicest silver for you - Job 22:24-25 (NIV)

FOOD FOR THOUGHT/UPLIFTING QUOTES BLOG

In the box below I have placed various stories and quotes I have received in e-mails, etc.  I'm placing them here to share and to allow others to add their stories and quotes in response.

Great Scripture

The Great Commandment: "Jesus said, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart. . .soul. . .and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.'". Matt. 22:36-40

The Great Commission: "Jesus said, 'Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matt. 28:19-20
