Hi! I'm Gail! I am the Administrative Assistant here at First United Methodist Church. Although my job title is short and small, my job is not! I stay really busy around the church assisting the ministers, editing our weekly church newsletter, opening and closing the office, doing church correspondence, sending out committee meeting notifications, greeting people, maintaining the church calendar, and whatever else might be needed of me. I have been in this position for 14 wonderful years.
I was married to 'Slim' Wiersema (now deceased) for 25 years and together we have one daughter, Glenda.

GET TO KNOW SHERRIE:  Hi! I'm Sherrie. I am the Bookkeeper/Financial Office Assistant here at First United Methodist Church. I have worked here for a year and a half now.  My job includes lots of computer work, keeping track of offerings, paying bills, and learning the business of our church. I am married to the love of my life, Jimmy Sullivan and we have been married for 3 and a half months. I have 2 sons, Buster-29 and Thad (Bubba)-26.
I welcome you to our website. First United Methodist Church is a wonderful place to be. We have so much going on in service to the Lord that you just have to come visit us in person and see for yourself!

Hi! My name is Sandy and I am the Rotation Sunday School Director/Children's Ministry Assistant for 2 years. I coordinate and organize all the lesson's for Rotation Sunday School, plan a devotional lesson for each Sunday morning, plan group activities for children age 2nd-6th grade, do a monthy newsletter, assist in all the workings of Children's ministry, help to plan and organize all activities for the children along side our Children's Ministry Director and last May I organized and began a Wednesday evening program called "Tweenagers" for our 2nd-6th grade students. I enjoy getting to know each and every child that walks through the doors of our church. I try hard to form a relationship with each individual child.
I have been married to Scott Seddens for 10 years  and I have 4 children: JT-20, Tera-19, Blake-10, and Ryan-8.
We invite you to join us for doughnut holes and coffee in the welcome center, before going to Sunday School every Sunday morning at 9:45 am. If you can't find your Sunday school classes, just ask and someone will get you there!

Hi! I'm Amy and I'm the Music Associate.Piano Instructor here at First United Methodist Church. I accompany and occasionally direct the Early Bird Choir, Men's Choir, Celebration Choir, and Chancel Choir. I also particiate in the Youth and Chancel Handbell choirs. Recently we formed a Praise Team for our newly established Evening Worship, and I play the piano for them as well. I love music! I have been on board at this church since June of 2006 but I have been accompanying the Chancel Choir since Mother's Day of 2005.
My husband, Mark, and I have been married for 4 years. We don't have any children yet, just two cats, Twiggy and Chloe.

Welcome! Thank you for visiting our web site which begins to describe who we are and some of our ministries. On May 18th, 2000, our historic sanctuary burned to the ground. On May 18th, 2003, we consecrated a new sanctuary which is built on the same location and has a similar design but is updated for today's ministry. In many ways, the new sanctuary reflects our new spirit. Building upon our rich tradition and heritage of sharing the Gospel in Texarkana for over 100 years, we are always seeking new and effective ways to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
